Dr. Brandon Weiss

Dr. Brandon Weiss is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins’ Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research. For ten years, he has investigated whether and how psychedelics improve mental health, especially for Military Veterans suffering with posttraumatic stress (PTS). He is an investigator on three clinical trials at Johns Hopkins, one examining psilocybin and trauma-focused psychotherapy for PTS, another examining MDMA and psilocybin for Veteran PTS, and a third comparing MDMA with psilocybin as a treatment for PTS. His research also explores treatments like repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, ibogaine, and 5-MeO-DMT for Special Operations Forces Veterans with PTS, depression, and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Weiss has been studying psychedelic therapies for 10 years, and has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His work has been featured in NPR, Wired, and Forbes, among others.

Dr. Weiss was clinically trained at the San Diego Veteran Affairs Health Care System / University of California San Diego in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure, and completed a National Institute of Health fellowship in neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London.
