PSYCHEDELIC RETREAT
PROGRAMS FOR VETERANS

Join one of OUR 9 WEEK PROGRAMS FOR VETERANS

The Heroic Hearts Process is a structured, nine-week program that combines preparation, professionally supported, legal psychedelic retreats, guided integration, and long-term community support to help veterans living with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other invisible wounds of military service. Since our founding, we’ve helped more than 1,500 veterans and their family members significantly reduce symptoms and improve their overall quality of life.

The Heroic Hearts Process is designed to support both safety and lasting outcomes. Through thoughtful preparation, experienced coaching, guided integration, and continued community, participants are equipped to navigate challenging experiences, make sense of what emerges, and translate insights from their retreat into meaningful changes in everyday life.

More than 80% of participants report significant improvements after completing the Heroic Hearts Process.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We use an application and screening process designed to ensure the Heroic Hearts Process is a safe and appropriate fit. This phase includes an initial application, an intake call with a member of our team, and a dedicated Safety Screening Call, where we review relevant medical and mental health history, current medications, support systems, and other factors that help us determine readiness for the program.

Our screening process is intentionally thorough because participant safety and long-term outcomes are our highest priorities. Along the way, we’ll answer your questions, help you understand what to expect, and ensure you have the information needed to make an informed decision. For more details, visit our Applicant FAQ.

Preparation lays the foundation for a meaningful retreat experience. Through individual coaching, group sessions, educational resources, and guided reflection, participants begin the inner work before ever arriving at the retreat. Together, you’ll clarify your intentions, prepare for the experience, build relationships with your cohort, and gain the knowledge, tools, and support needed to make the most of the journey ahead. Along the way, you’ll also have access to resources such as our 21-Day Mindfulness Course for Veterans, recommended readings, preparation guides, and other materials designed to deepen your learning and support your experience. Preparation includes three one-hour individual coaching sessions and three one-hour group coaching sessions.

The retreat is an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life and fully focus on your healing, supported by psychedelic medicine within a safe, intentional, and professionally guided environment. Surrounded by fellow veterans, participants engage in psychedelic ceremonies, guided reflection, group integration, and opportunities to reconnect with themselves, one another, and the natural world.

It’s said that the work truly begins after you come home from your retreat. Integration is the work of slowly making sense of your experience and understanding how the lessons you’ve learned apply to your everyday life. Although integration never truly stops, the first four weeks are critical. You’ll have three one-hour, private sessions and three one-hour, group sessions with an HHP coach to set the stage for your ongoing integration process.

Long-term aftercare is provided via our alumni program. You’ll have access to ongoing community calls and be the first to hear about in-person integration opportunities near you. HHP also supports program alumni with referrals to long-term care practitioners and programs, as needed.

Family healing and veteran healing go hand in hand. When families heal together, the impact reaches beyond the individual—strengthening relationships and building healthier futures for generations.

HEROIC HEARTS PROCESS

At the center of every program is the Heroic Hearts Process, the research-proven, veteran-built model of care we’ve developed in the time since 2017. More than a retreat, the Heroic Hearts Process provides a structured, community-based path to healing that includes careful screening, intentional preparation, the retreat experience itself, guided integration, and long-term alumni support. Rather than focusing on any single psychedelic substance, this model centers on the personal work, relationships, and conditions that make lasting healing possible.

RETREAT LOCATIONS

We now provide legal psychedelic retreats in Oregon, where psilocybin has been legalized, and anticipate offering similar retreats in Colorado beginning in 2026. We also offer international retreats in countries where these medicines are currently legal, including Peru, Mexico, and Jamaica. All of our programs were designed by veterans for veterans, with the unique needs of this community in mind, and are grounded in the evidence-backed Heroic Hearts Process that has demonstrated over 80% effectiveness in significantly reducing PTSD symptoms and improving quality of life

Science-Backed & Legal Treatment

A growing body of research suggests that psychedelic options offer a powerful new approach to treating PTSD, depression, and other trauma-related conditions.

Heroic Hearts Project connects veterans with legal psychedelic programs and supportive environments designed to help them process trauma and begin healing.

TESTIMONIALS

VETERAN STORIES

“Healing isn’t about erasing what happened. It’s about changing your relationship to it. Many veterans don’t struggle because they are weak — we struggle because we were effective for a very long time in environments that required emotional suppression to survive.”

Tim S.
U.S. Army Special Forces (Retired)

Since the retreat, my relationship with myself has shifted. I am less reactive. More present. I notice when old patterns of isolation or emotional suppression show up. Instead of judging myself, I have tools to respond with curiosity. That change has rippled into my marriage, my parenting, my leadership, and even how I approach my health.

Tim
Retreat Participant, US Army Special Forces

“The three nights in ritual were life-changing and did more for my mental health than the 12 years of treatment I received at the VA. The support didn’t stop there — they taught me how to integrate the lessons I learned, and offer a community that continues to support my healing journey. Heroic Hearts has given my life back.”

Lynn Krug
U.S. Army, 6 years

“I was on 15 different medications, drinking too much, and literally wasting away, despite 11 years of talk therapy. My time in Peru allowed me to access parts of my spirit and mind I didn’t even know I had — I was able to grieve and heal parts of me that trauma had locked away.”

Daniel Orth
21-year Special Operations medic

“What I wish more people understood is that veterans are not broken. Many of us simply never had the chance or the environment to process what we lived through. When the right support exists, real healing becomes possible.”

Travis J.
1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment

“For over 15 years, I committed to talk therapy and SSRIs. While those efforts were well-intentioned, they often felt like temporary bandages placed over wounds that needed deeper healing. HHP gave me something I had nearly given up on: a real chance at healing — and today I am living with purpose instead of shame.”

Christopher
U.S. Army, 20+ years, 8 combat deployments (SOF)

“Not long ago I was divorced, couldn’t hold a job, and lost. My biggest takeaway was how I learned to love myself fully, which I was never able to do my entire life. With the help of HHP, I’m back with my wife, my kids say I’m present and calm, and I’ve held a job ever since the retreat.”
