Healing veteran families
Military service impacts more than the individual who serves. A veteran’s military trauma can shape relationships, communication, parenting, and emotional well-being, often leaving spouses, partners, parents, children, and other loved ones carrying their own stress, grief, and emotional burden.
At Heroic Hearts Project, we believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Just as trauma can ripple through a family, healing can too. When loved ones have the opportunity to care for their own well-being, relationships grow stronger, families become more resilient, and veterans are better supported in their own healing journey.
Today, our retreat programs are available for veteran spouses and partners, with additional family programs currently in development.
We believe healing doesn’t end with the veteran
By supporting the people who love and care for those who have served, we’re strengthening families, fostering resilience, and creating opportunities for healing that can extend across generations.
THE IMPACT OF MILITARY TRAUMA
Healing the Family System
Military trauma doesn’t stop when a service member returns home. Research shows that spouses and partners of veterans with PTSD experience significantly higher rates of secondary traumatic stress, caregiver burden, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges of their own.
The effects of trauma can influence marriages, parenting, family dynamics, and emotional well-being for years. Yet loved ones often spend so much energy caring for others that their own needs go unrecognized.
At Heroic Hearts Project, we believe supporting veteran families isn’t separate from veteran healing. It’s an essential part of it. When families heal together, the impact extends far beyond the individual, strengthening relationships and creating healthier futures for generations to come.

What We Offer
Our retreat programs provide a dedicated space for veteran spouses and partners to focus on their own healing. Built on the core principles of the Heroic Hearts Process, each program combines personalized preparation, a facilitated retreat experience, and thoughtful integration support to help participants reconnect with themselves, strengthen relationships, and create lasting change. Currently, our veteran spouse retreat programs take place in partnership with The Hope Project.
Healing doesn’t happen alone. Our community offers regular support groups, educational workshops, experiential sessions like breathwork, and opportunities to connect with others walking a similar path.
Whether you’re seeking practical guidance, emotional support, or simply a community that understands, you’ll find spaces designed to help you care for yourself while building meaningful relationships with others.

We offer a specialized three-session group coaching program for spouses and partners of veterans participating in Heroic Hearts Project retreat programs. Timed to coincide with your loved one’s journey, the program includes one session before retreat, one during the retreat, and one after they return home.
Together, you’ll learn about the Heroic Hearts Process and your loved one’s specific retreat experience, gain practical tools for supporting them throughout their healing journey, and connect with others navigating a similar path. Just as importantly, you’ll have a dedicated space to process your own experience, ask questions, and navigate your own healing alongside theirs.
Our retreat programs are currently designed for women in the veteran spouse/partner community, but we know military trauma impacts entire families.
We’re actively exploring future programs for male spouses, parents, adult children, siblings, caregivers, and other loved ones. If you’re interested in participating in future family retreats or programs, we’d love to hear from you. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR FAMILY SUPPORT INTEREST LIST
