Juliana Mercer
Executive Director – Healing Breakthrough
Juliana serves on several boards for Veteran Service Organization and founded a Public Benefit Corporation called Sabe, which uses psychedelics to help individuals transform and heal.
Juliana Mercer is a Marine Corps veteran who deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan and spent five years at the Wounded Warrior Battalion, supporting injured Marines through recovery and witnessing firsthand both the consequences of war and the resilience required to rebuild after life-altering injuries. Since leaving the military, Juliana has continued her commitment to the veteran community, supporting veterans as they transition and reintegrate into civilian life. With more than 20 years of experience serving and advocating for veterans, she brings both lived experience and a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges her community faces.
Through her own journey to heal from military and personal trauma, Juliana found profound healing through psychedelic-assisted therapy, an experience that changed the trajectory of her life and reconnected her to purpose. Having experienced the life-saving potential of these therapies firsthand, she has dedicated herself to helping ensure veterans can access them through the systems responsible for their care. As Executive Director of Healing Breakthrough, Juliana leads federal advocacy efforts to advance research and policy, prepare the VA workforce and healthcare system, and create responsible pathways for psychedelic-assisted therapies to reach veterans living with PTSD and other complex mental health conditions.
